Head into the forests with an axe on your back, find the biggest trees in the territory, and put your back into honest work that keeps this frontier running.
Overview
Lumberjacking is one of the most straightforward ways to earn a living in Rosewood Ridge. The territory has vast forests full of harvestable timber, and the construction and crafting economy constantly demands a supply of wood, bark, branches, and sap.
No license is needed. Show up with an axe, find a tree, and start swinging. The harder you work, the more you earn — simple as that.
Getting Started

Obtain a Lumberjack Axe
You'll need a Lumberjack Axe item in your inventory to begin work. You can purchase one from traders or a gunsmith/general store. This is a dedicated tool — your standard hatchet won't work for professional logging.

Find a forest area
Use the /trees command followed by a location number to reveal harvestable trees near you as markers on the map. Not all trees can be harvested — only specific logging areas are active at any time.

Equip your axe and get chopping
Approach a marked tree and follow the on-screen prompts to begin the chopping animation. Each swing chips away at the tree's health. Multiple hit sessions are needed to fell a large tree.

Collect your resources
Once the tree falls, you'll automatically receive wood resources. Carry them to a sell point or store them in a wagon/saddlebag for later sale.
Finding Trees
The lumberjack's most useful tool is the /trees command. This reveals the nearest active forest area as a blip on your map, directing you toward harvestable timber.
Trees regenerate over time — approximately every 30 minutes after being felled. Busy forest areas will occasionally be stripped by other lumberjacks, so knowing multiple forest locations keeps your income consistent.
Scout out two or three forest areas using /trees before a session. When one area is depleted, move to the next rather than waiting for trees to respawn at a single spot.
Chopping Process
Lumberjacking is an active, rhythm-based activity. Each swing of the axe deals a random amount of damage to the tree's condition. Trees start at full health and must be brought to zero to yield resources.
- Stand near the tree and interact to begin the chopping animation — your character will automatically play the axe swing sequence.
- You can carry the axe on your back while walking between trees — it won't slow you down significantly.
- Keep an eye on your tools; consistent work means consistent axe wear.
What You Harvest
Each tree you fell yields a range of useful resource items, all with value in the server's crafting economy:

Wood and branches are in constant demand from gunsmiths and wheelwrights as crafting components. Selling directly to these tradespeople — rather than to a standard sell point — often commands a significantly higher price per unit.
Caring for Your Axe
Your Lumberjack Axe degrades with every swing. Letting it deteriorate too far will reduce its effectiveness and eventually break it. Maintenance is simple but essential:
- Use a Sharpening Stone to repair your axe's condition. These can be purchased from tradespeople or found as loot.
- Regular sharpening extends the life of your axe and prevents it from breaking mid-session.
- A broken axe must be repaired before you can continue working — carry a spare sharpening stone just in case.
A broken axe stops your entire work session. Always carry at least one Sharpening Stone so you can do field repairs without having to ride back to town.
Tips & Tricks
- Use a wagon to haul large amounts of lumber per trip rather than riding back and forth to sell after every few trees.
- Coordinate with other lumberjacks to work different forest areas, avoiding resource competition between players.
- Learn which forest areas are consistently rich — the Tall Trees region in West Elizabeth and the Cumberland Forest near Emerald Ranch are reliable spots.
- Build a relationship with a local gunsmith or wheelwright who has ongoing demand for wood — it turns ad-hoc sales into a reliable contract.
- Keep 2–3 Sharpening Stones in your inventory at all times for uninterrupted sessions.
